Best Pokemon vs Giratina Altered/Origin

Both Giratinas are ghost and dragon types. As with most dragon types, we should see lots of dragon types in the top 10 list. They both have the same staina but they swap attack and defense. Origin has the higher defense attribute and lower attack attribute. For this reason, against origin, we can use lower defense counters, which allows is to use slightly higher DPS counters.

Here are the top DO@20 counters against Giratina Altered and the top DO@20 counters against Giratina Origin.

As expected, dragon types dominate the list. Mamoswine and Weavile make an appearance. Between the two forms, the lists are largely the same but in slightly different orders.

Weather

When it is windy weather, the bottom half changes slightly and all the non-dragon types fall off the list.

When it is foggy, dark and ghost are boosted. Giratina (#1), Mewtwo (#2), Gengar (#5), and Weavile(#8) become useful.

When it is snowing, ice is boosted. Mamoswine (#1) and Weavile (#5) are boosted with their ice moves.

These are the links and ranks for Giratina Altered, but Origin is very similar. For other weather, there are only minor changes.

Move set

With different move sets, the recommendations change only in their order. The stronger moves favor Tank-ier Pokemon.
For Origin, the moves from strongest to weakest are: Shadow Ball, Dragon Pulse to Ominous Wind.
For Altered, the moves from strongest to weakest are: Dragon Claw, Ancient Power, Shadow Sneak.
